The demolition of the old H. A. White Bronson H.S. gym has been given a reprieve deadline of 8:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2025, for any formal letter of interest from an outside entity requesting to commence formal negotiation for the purchase of the gym. County Manager Harper will put the letter on a BoCC agenda for consideration by the board
Will the citizens of the Town of Bronson agree to purchase the gym with their tax dollars?
Will a generous donor or two help with the purchase? February 24, 2025, regular BoCC meeting will tell the tale.
Below is the text portion of an agreement signed by County Manager Mary Ellen Harper, Chair Desiree Mills, and Bronson Resident Rachel Weeks:
February 10, 2025
- Rachel Weeks will meet again with Commission Chair Desiree Mills and County Manager Mary-Ellen Harper at 8 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Board of County Commissioners Office.
- County Manager Mary-Ellen Harper will direct staff to complete the asbestos testing in the gym and delay the delivery of the construction fencing and dumpsters until after the meeting on February 24th.
- If the BoCC receives a formal letter of interest from an outside entity requesting to commence formal negotiations for the purchase of the gym, County Manager Mary-Ellen Harper will put the letter on a BoCC Agenda for consideration by the board. This request must be received by 8 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, in order to delay efforts to prepare to demolish the gym.
- This agreement does not promise that negotiations will be successful or that an agreement will be reached; it simply provides until Monday, February 24, 2025, to give outside parties who may be interested in purchasing the gym the opportunity to approach the Board.
