Press Release: Planning and Zoning Director Announces Her Separation From County Employment

Levy County Planning and Zoning Director Stacey Hectus has advised County Coordinator Wilbur Dean of her intention to separate from the County effective July 10, 2024.

Board of County Commission Chair said that she was saddened that Ms. Hectus was leaving. “Ms. Hectus has made some significant improvements to a number of processes and procedures related to planning and zoning in Levy County. I wish her good luck in her future endeavors.”

The Human Resources Department had begun recruiting for a new Planning and Zoning Director. Applications are due by 4pm on July 15, 2024.

Spotlight Note By Linda Dean Cooper: The full-time Veterinary position has been vacant since July 2023. How long will the Planning position be vacant? Ask yourself, “Who wants to work for five commissioners and a Coordinator with each one demanding their needs be served first?”

If this county is to move forward Coordinator Dean should leave within 30 days of his announcement and restructure the top management positions.

Dean’s job performance is dismal at best and his continued employment is a deterrent for any new applicants for the veterinarian and planning departments. Who wants six people whispering in their ear and fearing dismissal if any of the six are offended?

Perhaps emailing the two newest members of the BoCC, Desiree Mills and Tim Hodge to pressure Dean to leave within 30 days will help Dean out the door quicker.
