Retiring Clerk of Court Danny Shipp and Commissioner Matt Brooks District 5 Seat Up for Grabs

By Linda Cooper

Brian Gore and Matt Brooks have filed to run for the current Clerk of Court, Danny Shipp’s job. Shipp announced his retirement a few months ago. Brooks’ filing for Clerk of Court opens up his District 5 commission seat. As a rule, more people will throw their hat in the ring when there is a vacant seat and no incumbent to compete against.  We need leaders who have our rural county’s best interest at heart, not their own self-serving policies, bloated budgets, and bad management practices.

Levy County Supervisor of Elections Tammy Jones’ website has everything you need to know about who is running for office, how to become a candidate, campaign finance search to know who is donating to what candidate, and much more. The link below will take you to that page: https://www.votelevy.com/Candidate-Information

Below are the helpful links about the upcoming elections:

Go to the 2024 Local Filed Candidates tab to see who is running for what office. Currently, Brian Gore and Matt Brooks have filed to run for the current Clerk of Court.

Three other incumbent officers who have filed for their offices are Property Appraiser, Jason Whistler, Supervisor of Elections, Tammy Jones, and Tax Collector Michele Langford.

Get involved, run for office, and make your voices and concerns heard. You can make a difference!
