Three Bronson High School seniors received scholarships of $1,000 each from the Bronson Town Council.

            One student was honored as Student of the Month.

            Town Councilman Tyler Voorhees presented the scholarships to Christine Porter, Shelby Strickland, and Ingrid Velasquez-Guadawama at the June 5 council meeting.

            The town gives these scholarships to high school seniors in recognition of their high academic achievement. The scholarships have been awarded for a number of years.

            Also at the meeting, Freddie Freeman received a Student of the Month Award and a $20 cash gift from the council.

            Town Councilwoman Virginia Phillips made the presentation.

            Freeman was nominated by Lisa Pinder.

            Pinder said Freeman went out of his way to make sure students who may not have someone to dance with at the prom feel special. He was happy to make a special event important for all students even if it wasn’t the group of students he came to the prom with.
