Six Levy County High School and Middle School FFA leaders were present at Tuesday’s Levy County Commission meeting as part of National FFA Week.
Williston SR FFA President Judson Hancock read the Levy County proclamation declaring Feb. 18-25 as National FFA Week.
Ryleigh Locke of Chiefland SR FFA, who placed second in FFA state competition for Creed Speaking recited the FFA Creed to the assembled visitors at the meeting in an impressive fashion.
School leaders present for the recognition of National FFA Week were Hunter Sharp of Chiefland SR FFA, Annabelle Whitehurst of Williston JR FFA, Sara Richardson of Yankeetown Middle FFA, Sadie Richardson of Yankeetown Middle FFA, Hancock, and Locke.
The FFA Proclamation noted that FFA and agriculture education provide a strong foundation for the youth of America and for the future of food, fiber, and natural resources systems.
FFA promotes premier leadership, personal growth, and career success among its members.
Levy County Commissioners were once members of the FFA in their younger years.
County Commissioner Desiree Jerrells invited the high school and middle school FFA members to the commission meeting to celebrate National FFA Week along with their adult leaders.
Commission Chairman Matt Brooks acknowledges that the FFA students are among the future leaders of Levy County.
