Williston Mayor Jerry Robinson presented two Student of the Month Awards Tuesday in his final meeting with the Williston City Council.
Whit Whitehurst, a kindergarten student at Joyce Bullock Elementary School and son of Tisha Whitehurst was nominated by Mrs. Williams. She said he is a serious and diligent student, always trying to do his best at everything he does. Whit can at times be very serious, but we sometimes get the pleasure of seeing his silly side as well. What makes Whit stand out, however, is his kindness and love for others. Whit takes it upon himself to find ways to make another student’s life better and happier in our class. He quietly puts aside his own work to make sure a friend in our class who has many challenges, has everything he needs first. He does this even if it means he has to spend some of his free time completing his own work. Whit has never asked for praise or reward for these kind acts, he does them because that’s who he was raised to be. I know Whit would also want to include that he came in first place in the Mashed Potato Mile this year because although he doesn’t care to get praise for being kind, he doesn’t mind an occasional pat on the back for being fast.”
Brynleigh Bullock, a 4th grader at Williston Elementary School and daughter of Kristin Bullock was nominated by Ms. Thomas. Brynleigh is an amazing young lady. Brynleigh works hard in class and loves to help others. She consistently puts the best interests of others ahead of her own. She has such a big heart! Brynleigh is a friend to all and offers a helping hand to any student or teacher in need. She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. We are proud to have Brynleigh as Williston Elementary School’s Student of the Month.
