Williston Mayor, Council Honor Students of Month

Williston Mayor Jerry Robinson presented Student of the Month certificates Tuesday on behalf of himself and the City Council.

Kyan Raelynn Smith, a kindergarten student at Joyce Bullock Elementary School and daughter of Kathy Smith was nominated by Miss Bannon.  Kyan is deserving of this award! When I met her at our “Meet the Teacher Night, I knew she was a special child, and she has proven that. Kyan is funny, kind, smart, and has the sweetest heart! Academically, Kyan always gives her best effort and continues to grow each day. You cannot teach effort, motivation, and perseverance. This little girl just has it!!! Kyan is one of the kindest kids I have met. She is respectful to adults, but it is the way she interacts with her peers that makes her stand out.  Kyan is always willing to help. This could mean playing with someone who may not have a friend, walking with another student who may not know how to get somewhere on our campus, or helping a friend during our center rotations. Kyan has so many positive characteristics! I could go on and on listing all the reasons why Kyan was chosen as our Student of the Month. Kyan, Miss Bannon is proud of you!! Keep working hard and always keep love in your heart. You will do wonderful things!

Alivia Westbrook, a 5th grader at Williston Elementary School and daughter of Jennifer Westbrook, was nominated by Pricilla Fugate-Hiers. Alivia is an exceptional young lady. She is always eager to succeed academically. Her teachers and fellow students appreciate her positive attitude and consideration for others. It is a pleasure to recognize Alivia was not only her STEAM teacher’s student of the month for December but Williston Elementary School’s Student of the Month. She embodies the qualities of a model WES student.

Kyrin Penny, an 8th grader at Vision Christian School and son of Chaka Penny was nominated by Charonda Watkins. Kyrin puts forth all his effort in his work. He makes very good grades and is one of the most well-mannered students I know. He doesn’t hesitate to help others with tasks and is a big encourager in the classroom and out of the classroom. He also is a great leader, being an example to other students and athletes that academics come first and play a major role in your future. It is a pleasure to have Kyrin in my class.

Kierra Andrews, a 16-year-old recent graduate at Williston Middle High School and daughter of Danae Bateman was nominated by Kristen Larsen. Here are a few things Kierra’s teacher had to say about Kierra. Kierra is a motivated student and a natural leader. She started a recycle club here at WMHS, was HOSA president, and did an excellent job motivating students and coming up with fundraising ideas. She will definitely reach her career and life goals. Kierra has taken over teaching 9th-grade AVID since the teacher left and has been doing an excellent job of teaching and being a student. Kierra is a model dual-enrollment student. She completes assignments, prepares for tests, and makes prior arrangements if she has to miss class. She is a true pleasure to have in class! Kierra is always trying to do better. She always asks for constructive criticism and she is always willing to help!
