Chiefland’s next city commission election is scheduled for April 5.
Qualifying takes place from Jan. 24 to Jan. 27. The qualifying fee is $448.
Seats held by Councilwoman Lewrissa Johns, Group 2, and Lance Hayes, Group 4, will be on the ballot.
Chiefland’s previous city elections have been held later in the year but Supervisor of Elections Tammy Jones requested an April election date. Jones hoped all eight cities in the county would agree to hold their elections in the first week of April. Not all went along with the plan. Williston kept its March election.
Chiefland moved its election to April to avoid conflicts with the annual city budgeting process in August and September and to avoid conflicts with election primaries at the county and state level.
