Levy County School Board members Ashley Clemenzi, Cameron Asbell, Chris Cowart and Chairwoman Paige Brookins along with Superintendent Jeff Edison prepare for the start of their board meeting with a light business agenda.
By Terry Witt – Spotlight Senior Reporter
The Levy County School Board presided over one of its shortest agendas in history Tuesday night.
Aside from adopting the school calendar, which lasted about two minutes, adopting the board minutes from Jan. 28 meeting and approving the consent agenda, there was no formal business conducted.
There were no executive sessions on the agenda for a change.
Students from three schools gave presentations on Cooperative Diversified Education and Career Technical Education that required no board vote.
School Board member Brad Etheridge was absent.
There were no members of the public present except for two Spotlight representatives, a teacher union president and students, teachers and principals involved in the CTE and CDE presentations.
The board has emphasized it wants more publicity for positive things at its board meetings.
Etheridge complained in a Spotlight post that Spotlight wasn’t reporting the positive discussions taking place in the meeting.
The entire board meeting was devoted to positive things at this meeting.
Even the board comments and superintendent comments were all positive.
It took 90 minutes for all the positive things to be completed and discussed.
School board members earn a salary of about $29,089 to make policy decisions for the school and govern the financial and personnel aspects of the school district.
School Superintendent Jeff Edison earns $109,908.
Board members preside over a $79 million budget.
