Williston City Hall will open for business on Thursday – boxes, crates and all.
The city’s impressive looking 12,000-square-foot City Hall features a massive lobby that visitors will walk through to reach the main desk.
City Manager Scott Lippmann and City Clerk Fran Taylor plan to work out of their new offices along with other city staff on Thursday.
City staff members are continuing to move files and boxes from the temporary City Hall at the former Williston High School.
A few odds and ends are left to complete on the building itself. The contractor, Oelrich Construction, is working to finish those tasks.
Although Lippmann definitely plans to open the lobby for business on Thursday, he said it might be a couple more weeks before they unpack all the boxes and figure out where all the files go.
“We got to get open for the citizens,” he said Tuesday.
City Council members will meet in their new meeting room for the first time Tuesday, Nov. 6, which is Election Day.
The city has a large community room in City Hall with an adjoining kitchen for occasions when food is served.
One of the many features that make this building different from the former City Hall is the electronic card key access for every door in the building. Card key access will cut down on the high traffic going into and out of City Hall offices. You will need permission to go beyond the lobby. The building has plenty of sunshine pouring into the various offices and lobby. The windows are shaded with tinting for conservation purposes. The shading also gives City Hall staff more privacy working indoors. There is a large and small conference room.
