Is there anyone out there that can explain why the Levy School Board Consent Agenda includes asking for permission to extend some contracts and others are to be bid? (See definition of consent agenda at bottom of the post. Often times no discussion. Consent agenda was new to me until a few months ago.)
Why not rebid or at least attempt to negotiate better terms? Why would anyone want to renew a contract without looking for a better deal? With such budget shortfalls, why renew without seeking out bids?
Below are the company names for extension but no details were provided such as costs, etc. None are considered a sole source as best I could find.

By the way, there are no email addresses on the school’s website for the Board members that I could find if you thought about emailing a question or concern. I believe there is an email address for the Superintendent and public records request but no one else.
I was very surprised there were no email addresses for any of the Board members on the school website.
Nor is there ever much discussion concerning the business of running the school in the meetings, at least not at the meetings I have attended in the last few months. Based on the supporting documents I have seen, I could not make an informed decision on anything in the consent agenda. Perhaps the Board has more information than what is provided to the public.
Definition of Consent Agenda: A consent agenda is a board meeting practice that groups routine business and reports into one agenda item. THE CONSENT AGENDA CAN BE APPROVED IN ONE ACTION, rather than filing motions on each item separately.
