Chiefland City Commissioners honored their March Students of the Month Monday with Commissioner Rollin Hudson handing out certificates.
Alexis Perkins, a 5th grader at Chiefland Elementary School and daughter of Tiffany Bingaman and Christopher Perkins was nominated by Lori Thomas. She was described Alexis as a true representation of having a servant’s heart. She goes above and beyond daily to help those in need. If she sees a need she jumps in without being asked to lend a hand. She is a constant encourager and is admired and respected by her peers. Thomas said Alexis inspires her to be a better person.
Colton Schindler, a 7th grader at Chiefland Middle School and son of Chris Schindler and Shelly Nash was nominated by the 8th-grade teachers. He was described as a hard worker. He is polite to his peers as well as adults. He is always respectful to adults as well as his classmates. Colton can always be found doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Colton is a wonderful role model for our school.
Derek Coffey, a 12th grader, and son of Dawn and James Coffey was nominated by the teachers of Chiefland High School. Derek was described as a hard-working student who is kind and considerate. As an aide, he helps other students understand their work and classroom procedures. He never fails to greet teachers with respect and a hardy handshake.
