Williston Mayor Charles Goodman presented Student of the Month awards Tuesday at the Williston City Council meeting.
Oliver Mack, a 2nd grader at Joyce Bullock Elementary School and son of Ashley Mack was nominated by Mrs. Tiller and Oliver’s 2nd-grade classmates who commented on why he deserved the recognition.
Oliver Mack is an amazing young man. He is respectful to everyone he comes into contact with, not only adults but also his classmates. He treats all of his classmates as his friend. Oliver is such a hard worker and it willing to do anything that is asked of him. He greets me every morning with a hug, smile and a good morning, Mrs. Tiller. I appreciate that both respect and manners have been instilled in the home and that he encourages his classmates to be respectful as well. This young man is a great example to our class, school, and community. I am blessed that he is part of our class. It is truly a privilege to teach him every day! I am so proud of you, Oliver! Love, Mrs. Tiller and your 2nd Grade Classmates.
Annastyn Chorvat, an 8th-grade student at Williston Middle/High School and daughter of Todd and Devyn Chorvat, was nominated by her teachers who made the following comments. Only the last names of the teachers were provided by the school.
Philpot – Annastyn has really come out of her shell in The Flame class this year. In August, she wanted no part of anchoring our morning news show, but now she regularly appears and does an outstanding job. In class, she willingly does whatever is asked of her and usually does it above and beyond expectations. She is a leader in our class and encourages other students to make good decisions and helps to keep us focused (teacher included LOL). She is creative and meticulous with FLAME/Media. I’m so glad she is stepping up-even if it means getting out of her comfort zone.
Roeder – Annastyn is a great student, consistently not only on task but doing incredibly well on the assignments. She has a knack for making connections within the material, giving her a deeper understanding, and is willing to help other students make those same connections. She helps the class as a whole understand the material.
Tomlinson – Annastyn is an amazing student! She works great with everyone in class. She is by far a leader in that group of students. She is also very compassionate and checks on people when she feels as if they are down or having a bad day.
Couey – She is a compassionate leader of her peers, tries to include everyone, and makes people feel comfortable. Annastyn serves as an officer for Williston Middle FFA and makes it a point to make sure activities are planned, students are prepared for events, and everyone is welcome! She is a hard worker, organized, and strives for excellence!
Smith – Annastyn is a self-motivated and successful student who not only tries her best but also tries to keep her peers on track and doing their best. She is a leader amongst her peers. She is readily willing to help her peers and ask questions when she is confused. She is an excellent advocate for her own education and strives to be excellent in all matters.”
