In case you haven’t noticed, it’s been raining a lot. More is expected.

Keep an umbrella handy for the Memorial Day Weekend.

A tropical or subtropical depression is expected to form this weekend in the Gulf of Mexico. The main concern will be heavy rain and possible flooding over a swath of Florida and the Southeast.

Flash flooding and river flooding may become more widespread and last well into next week, according to the Weather Channel.

Dave Peaton, assistant director of Levy County Emergency Management said 5-7 inches are expected next week, assuming nothing changes. He made the statement Tuesday.

“Don’t make too many plans for the Memorial Day Weekend,” Peaton said in an appearance before the Levy County Commission.
