Qualifying ended Thursday for the April 5 Chiefland election, with Group 4 City Commissioner Lance Hayes drawing former Commissioner Tim West as an opponent.
Hayes and West will be the only names on the ballot.
Group 2 City Commissioner Lewrissa Johns didn’t draw an opponent. She was re-elected without opposition.
The election is the first of its kind because of the April 5 date. Previous elections were held in August.
Commissioners changed their election date at the request of Levy County Supervisor of Elections Tammy Jones. She had hoped all eight cities in the county would switch their elections to the first week in April.
Chiefland Commissioners decided April elections would eliminate conflicts with the annual budget process which reaches its peak activity in August and September. Former Chiefland City Commissioner Tim West is challenging City Commissioner Lance Hayes for his former seat.
