Gainesville City Attorney Nicolle Shalley has accepted the position of County Attorney for the Levy County Commission.
TV 20 announced Wednesday evening that she has resigned her position as city attorney to take the Levy County job.
County Coordinator Wilbur Dean confirmed late Wednesday that Shalley agreed to a salary of $140,000.
“She has accepted the position,” Dean said.
Shalley has been Gainesville City Attorney for the past 15 years and has worked as an attorney for 20 years.
She told Levy County Commissioners Tuesday her contract with Gainesville required two months of notice, but she might be able to arrange for an earlier departure from her current position.
The Levy County Commission must vote to hire her as the new county attorney. County commissioners have been without an attorney since Anne Bast Brown retired on June 30.
Commissioners were impressed with Shalley’s level of experience, knowledge of local government law, and her enthusiasm for joining the Levy County staff.
