Re: Levy County Commissioner – Mike Joyner
Subject: A Great Man of God Has Passed Away
Prepared By: Levy County Board of County Commissioners & Staff
Today, we make the tough announcement that Commissioner Mike Joyner has passed away.
Commissioner Joyner has accomplished a lot in his life. From his historic and celebrated career as a law enforcement officer, his hard work and dedication in farming, and his no-nonsense leadership and service representing the residents of Levy County One area that unfortunately not many people got to see in public was his unbelievable and steadfast commitment to keeping the residents and visitors of Levy County safe from disasters.
During the years, Levy County has seen its fair share of disasters, from localized flooding, to hurricanes, to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. During every single one of those events, Commissioner Joyner would work side by side with the men and women that were preparing for, responding to, and recovering from the disaster. Commissioner Joyner would, at the drop of a hat, offer his assistance with anything from answering phone calls from the public, to grabbing a chainsaw and cutting trees out of roadways. He did all of this with no expectation or want of recognition.
He was a man of the people and a defender and advocate to the employees of Levy County. His life as a dedicated professional in his service to the public is a shining example of what a true public servant is and what we all should strive to be.
He was taken from us too soon, but we must remember the lessons that we learned from him and
continue his example of public service, pride in work, and dedication to our fellow humans. Even though he has left us, he will never be forgotten and his message of hard work and public dedication will be continued. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Joyner Family now as they mourn such a profound loss.
Well done good and faithful servant and may you rest in peace.
