Police officer Jeff Holcomb, who grew up in Williston, is coming back home.
Holcomb was sworn by Williston Mayor Jerry Robinson Tuesday as an officer in the Williston Police Department.
He currently works for Louisiana State University as an adjunct lecturer where he conducts first responder training as well as civilian training regarding terrorist-related threats.
But Williston is home for Holcomb.
Following his graduation from Williston High School, he attended Santa Fe Community College and after graduating with his Associate’s Degree he entered the SFCC Police Academy.
Prior to his graduation from the academy, he was hired by the University of Florida Police Department where he served for the next 30 years.
During his tenure with university police, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Journalism in Public Relations as well as attending the FBI National Academy, graduating in the 253rd session.
He was promoted through various ranks at the University Police Department, retiring as a captain managing the department’s Community Services Division, Training Division, and Officer of Victim Services.
He was sworn as an officer at the Williston City Council’s meeting.
